  • I left my heart in Honolulu

Ten years ago, I was on a short vacation in Honolulu, on my way to Hong Kong from Seattle. I was then in my early twenties. Young and vulnerable, according to the kind bus driver who took me, to and fro, from the airport hotel to the city, consecutively for two days. He dropped me off in the city in the morning and picked me up from the central station in the late evening. I was so touched by his kind gesture. Hawaiians are great people! Mahalo!

The first day, I sunbathed at the famous Waikiki beach in the morning. After that, I walked towards the Aloha Tower Marketplace Shopping Center for a quick brunch. There were several souvenir shops. I bought some t-shirts with the “Hawaii” prints on them. They were quite reasonably priced. I even bargained and got a small discount for the bulk purchase *hehe* You know, Hawaiians are extremely warm and friendly folks! Throughout the day, I had many kind folks stopping to ask if I need them to take a pix of me. After shopping I took a guided tour to the famous Pearl Harbor, The Arizona Memorial and Punchbowl. It was a great experience!

The next day, I went on a sightseeing tour. There were many different packages of sightseeing tours to choose from. I decided to go for the Polynesian Cultural Center and the surroundings in Oahu. The views were scenic and breathtaking! During the tour, I had the chance to meet, interact and learn about the people of Hawaii, Samoa, Maori New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, the Marquesas and Tonga. And also experienced an authentic Hawaiian luau, a dinner-show feast fit for an ali’i (royal chief)! I was enthralled!

I’m planning a solo trip to Honolulu later this year prior to my Las Vegas trip. I desperately need a break! I deserve it! So am checking out Trusted Tours and Attractions packages. One of the reasons I’m checking them out is because I would like to win the GPS handheld which they are offering for those who subscribe to their newsletter. Subscribing to newsletter is a great way to find out the latest packages and promotions they have. Even if this trip is not successful, the newsletter could give me ideas of where to visit in the future.
