I’m thinking of getting Mactopia for my Macbook. But I’ve read many negative reviews about its incompatibility with Apple. I’m kinda hesitant about getting it.

Prolly I should just get iWork. But am lazy to learn all over about new applications.
Any suggestions or personal experience is very much welcomed.

I’m concurrently using Office for Mac and iWorks, and I find that for word processing as we know it, Pages (iWorks) is as simple to grasp as you would with Words experience. However, should you do lots of images within the document, Pages would be my top pick for its simplicity to format, align, and manipulate the layout.
However, as spreadsheets go, I still prefer Excel since like you I am lazy to learn how to work with Numbers. I tried, but perhaps my familiarity with the former proved too much a hurdle!
Can’t comment on the presentation element of iWorks since I have not used it, nor have I with Powerpoint.
As a Mac-User, I think Office for Mac is excellent for recently-switched users to cushion the ‘culture shock’, but as s/he gotten used to the fantastically intuitive OS X, then iWorks would be great! And I love my Pages!
Have fun!

Hey
Thanks for sharing your experience with me. Yeah, I did a little more research and read some very good reviews on iWork. Obviously, it’s still iWork that works better with macs.
Guess, I gotta drop my laziness and start picking up on a new application.
