Many years ago, I worked for an international courier company. I had the most thoughtful and considerate boss anyone would wished for. He was soft-spoken and I was truly inspired by the quality of his leadership. He was like a friend, a senior friend and a mentor, to all his subordinates when we’re behind closed doors. That was why his group performance was the best compared to the other two teams.
He’s so thoughtful, he didn’t only send out birthday cards to his staff, but also his customers or better way to put it, our customers. They weren’t any ordinary birthday cards. They’re customized birthday cards with his name specially signatured and printed on them. He even got us to print our own Business Birthday Cards for our customers. It’s one way to show our token of appreciation, since it wasn’t our company’s policy to send our customers gifts. These cards may not be the most expensive presents but it’s the thought that counts. Besides uniqueness, we also have a variety of selections to choose from the gallery. Unlike those boring and standardized anyone-can-have cards at the shops.
Hence, I’ve made it a practice to order customized birthday cards to be sent out to my customers. It was definitely a great idea! It’s personal and encourages close business rapport.
