What’s the frigging problem with the government in KB? First, we are asked to queue to pay up in the supermarket according to our sexes - men at men’s checkout counter and women at women’s checkout counter. Then, the women were forbidden from wearing short skirts, claiming it will attract unwanted sexual assaults. Now, the women are not even allowed to wear lipsticks - of bright colors … WTF man!
I remember during my first visit to Kota Bahru, I was given hateful stare as I didn’t know as a woman I needed to queue up at the women’s checkout counter in Mydin Store. Besides, I was wearing a sleeveless and micro mini shorts - eh very hot mah! So, what’s wrong with shorts wor! My friend realized my mistake and quickly pulled me aside and put me on the right queue. Even though he’s a guy, he didn’t want to offend the irrational “system” which is ONLY VALID in KB.
Don’t they know if one is to sexually assault or rape another, it’s got nothing to do with how the women are clothed, rather a mental case. A guy with a normal mental state will not indulge in such an irrational act. Yoooo guys … isn’t this true? If one wants to rape or sexually assault a woman, it doesn’t matter how the woman looks like because all he wants is to satisfy his (impulsive) sexual needs.
Cilakak … so angry when read about the below article. What’s more? It’s reported by a foreign media …

Malaysian city bans lipstick for Muslim womenAuthorities in a northern Malaysian city have forbidden Muslim women from wearing bright lipstick and noisy high-heeled shoes, saying the directive is intended to prevent sexual assaults and “illicit sex.”
The national news agency, Bernama, said the directive was issued by the municipal council of Kota Baru and is aimed toward Muslim women working in restaurants and other businesses in the city. It said the ban will safeguard the morals and dignity of the women as well as thwart rape.
“It states that Muslim women are forbidden to wear thick make-up, like bright colored lipstick and high-heeled shoes that gave a tapping sound,” the news agency said.
“For those who insist on wearing high heel shoes, they can do so but with rubber heels.”
Kota Baru already has a directive calling for Muslim women to wear non-transparent headscarves that cover the chest, long-sleeved and loose blouses and socks.
Anyone not following the regulations can be fined up to 500 ringgit ($153), Bernama said.
Malaysia, a multi-racial society containing many ethnic groups, considers itself a moderate Muslim country. Muslims comprise about 60 percent of the population. Buddhists, Christians and Hindus who also make up the religious make up of the country do not face restrictions on clothing or practices.
The city of Kota Baru is the capital of of Kelantan state, which is ruled by the hard-line opposition party, Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS).
At one time, the party advocated for an Islamic state, but has backed away from the stance in recent months.
PAS was part of a loose coalition of opposition parties that won control of five of the country’s 13 states in national elections held in March 2008.
The coalition also won 82 of 222 parliamentary seats — making it only the second time in the southeast Asian country’s history that the ruling party has failed to gain the two-thirds majority needed to amend the constitution.

While I don’t agree with their decision, I felt the need to point a few things about the article out to you. The first is that this ruling on lipstick and high heels only applies to *muslim* women. The second is that muslims are already very strict about how their women dress. This is a religious issue, I think.

I -personally- think that if there’s anybody who deserve to complain would be the kelantanese muslim women. And what I understand from the article above are:
1. The regulations are ‘aimed toward Muslim women working in restaurants and other businesses in the city’. Meaning, not elsewhere ex: visiting families, relatives, friends… etc.
2. Lipsticks of natural or soft colours would be ok,
3. High heels are actually allowed, provided that the heels are covered with rubber to dampened the noise.

I would like to add something about the lipstick issue: who the hell wants to wear bright coloured lipstick? I thought it’s “….. merah sangat la mak ngah, macam zaman dulu…”
